Sand-lime bricks as protection against weathering
For many decades now, double-layer walling with an internal shell of sand-lime bricks and an outer shell coated in KASA-Color® has stood the test of time in home and industrial construction. When coupled with integral heat insulation between the internal load-bearing wall and the KASA-Color® protective external wall, this sand-lime functional wall combines the advantages of each individual building material. It is not a single building material to satisfy every need, but rather each individual material handles the jobs for which it is best suited. The inner shell wall of KS* sand-lime brick is heavy duty and resilient. It carries the load of the building, protects it against noise, absorbs the heat and balances out dampness in the room. These bricks can carry permanent load with no problem. Sand-lime brick walls do not burn and have an economical slim-line design. Insulation between two walls reduces the heat flow from inside to a minimum. A range of insulation standards right up to those that govern a Passive House (German: Passivhaus) can be created with different insulation materials. The sand-lime external wall of KASA-Color® facing bricks is the resistant outer wall of the building. Applied in the factory, wet impregnation protection* defies all influences that may damage the insulation and the building over time: rain, frost, sun, wind, pollution and algae. The variety of colours, forms and surfaces of KASA-Color® walls provides a wide range of choice for customising the appearance of the building.
* For KASA-Color® briquettes, impregnation is applied outdoors on site.
